Taylor Swift and Cat Meredith: Cutest Celeb Cat Video

So if it weren’t annoying enough that Taylor Swift is pretty and talented, she also has to be funny and smart AND have a cat with those same attributes?  In this YouTube clip she posted, she has a serious conversation with her Scottish Fold cat Meredith about how voting for the Academy of Country Music “Entertainer of the Year” Award voting works.

Taylor Swift Names New Kitten After Grey's Anatomy!

Taylor Swift tweeted about her “new roommate, Meredith” — and the gossip sites went nuts before she revealed this picture…

Turns out it wasn’t a cute guy, but an adorable grey-and-white Scottish Fold kitten she named Meredith Grey, after the character played by Ellen Pompeo on the hit ABC show Grey’s Anatomy. Meredith joins tabby cat Indy in the lucky Swift household.

And then cat fan Katie Perry — whose signature fragrance is named Purr after her own beloved Kitty Purry — chimed in on her own feed, “I want to cuddle that kitten so hard!”  Who could blame her … especially after seeing the latest tweeted pic from Taylor.

Mayim Bialik ("Big Bang Theory"): Bald Cat with Biblical Name

Neuroscientist, former Blossom and current Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik also somehow finds time to blog about her adventures as a Jewish mom to two boys on the parenting website kveller.com and on her Facebook page.

She posted this tidbit about another cherished member of the family, introducing fans to her peterbald cat, whose name is Esau, calling him “awesome” and herself a “crazy cat person.”

The brilliant and funny Bialik might’ve been going for the ironic when she named him, since Esau literally translates to “hairy” in Hebrew.

Esau = NOT hairy

This is how she goes on to describe him: “He is a ‘new’ breed found from a spontaneous mutation in St. Petersburg in 1993. He is what an Oriental Shorthair or Siamese would look like naked … he is VERY baby/monkey like; VERY friendly, needs to sleep with me in the spooning position under the covers or he wakes everyone crying and ‘talking.'” Sweet!

Whoopi Goldberg, Camilla Parker-Bowles Rescue New Pets!

Whoopi Goldberg and British royal Camilla Parker-Bowles, The Duchess of Cornwall, made pet news this week by adopting shelter animals. The Whoopster first introduced us to her new Russian Blue kitten in July on ABC’s The View (see video below), which was thrown onto New York’s Verrazano Bridge from a moving car. Luckily, an Animal Care & Control officer happened to witness it, rescued the cat and named him (you guessed it!) Verrazano.

After cuddling with the cutie on air, Whoopi announced today on her Facebook page that she had officially adopted him as a brother for her Russian blue Oliver. “His nickname is Vinny,’ she reports. “Oliver’s not too happy but Vinny is having the time of his life. I think he’ll get Oliver to come around sooner than later.”

And Prince Charles‘ wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, is a longtime supporter of London’s world-famous Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and has been a devoted dog mom to three Jack Russell terriers: Tosca, Rosie and Freddy (who passed away several years ago at the age of 21).

According to the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper (read the article here), when the staff at Battersea sent the Duchess an email with the picture of a Jack Russell terrier puppy named Beth, she couldn’t resist adopting her.

Claire Horton, chief executive of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, was quoted as saying: “We’re delighted that the Duchess of Cornwall has adopted Beth. Beth is a charming, confident little puppy and we know she will be very happy in her new home.”

Dancing With The Stars Dogs and Cats

Among the dance pros strutting their sambas and stuff on the Dancing With the Stars season finale, there are several dedicated pet lovers whose animals have awesome names. It all starts with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who wins the Pet Baby Names Doggie Bowl trophy for his bulldog’s moniker, Sir Sleep A Lot.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) supporter, and her fiance Jesse Sloan share five (!) cats, named Mia, Shadow ( both on the Most Popular Cat Names list), Taz, Squeaker and Zeus.

Former dance pro, actress and singer Julianne Hough is rarely seen without her beloved King Charles Spaniel Lexi and just welcomed another cutie pie pup to keep her company, named Harley.

But the most dedicated pet lover of them all is Lacey Schwimmer, who recently rescued a MinPin/Chihuahua mix named Akira. That lucky dog joins French Bulldog Bijou, and adopted Chihuhuas Madeleine and Harlequin as part of the happy Schwimmer household.

CSI: Miami's Emily Procter Purrs About her Cat Kevin

Emily Procter, CSI: Miami‘s Detective Calleigh Duquesne, spoke recently to the magazine Guideposts about her furriest friend: “So far my closest relationship was with my cat, Kevin. He was rescued as a newborn from a hole in the wall—literally—of a friend’s old beach shack. From the get-go, he was gentle and sweet and had this calm about him that I only wished I could find. It was like his rough introduction to the world hadn’t closed him off but rather opened him up. He’d come when I called and flop onto his back so I could rub his belly. He’d even jump into the bathtub with me. Kevin was the picture of contentment. How could I help but fall in love?”

Kevin is 17 years old and seems to be going strong.
